The Constable Care Child Safety Foundation has pledged its support for the Safe Schools Coalition, and the important work that the Coalition does to create a safe and more inclusive environment for same sex attracted, intersex and gender diverse students, teachers and families.
As a charity dedicated to harm prevention and children’s safety, it is very important to the Foundation that children feel safe at school, and grow up free of discrimination, stigma and bullying.
Childhood is a precious time, but can sadly also be a time of acute vulnerability. 1 in 4 Australian teenagers experiencing frequent bullying, which may lead to long-term negative outcomes to mental and physical health. At the Constable Care Child Safety Foundation, we believe that taking a firm stance against all forms of bullying is key to ensuring that children grow up in a nurturing educational environment that allows them to reach their potential.
Discrimination against LGBTI children has no place in Australian schools, and we are proud to support the Safe Schools Coalition in the valuable work that they do to promote inclusivity in education, and to equip schools with the tools to build safer, kinder environments for young people to learn and thrive.
